馬越 陽子（マコシ ヨウコ） 【略歴】 ＜1934年＞ 東京青山に生まれる。 ＜1956年＞ 東京女子大学文学部英文科を卒業。卒論はウィリアム・ブレイク論（「人間性の解放−ブレイクの信仰に就いて」）。 ＜1964年＞ 東京芸術大学美術学部油画科（林武教室）を卒業。 独立展初出品、初入選。 ＜1966年＞ 東京芸術大学大学院（山口薫教室）を修了。 ＜1967年＞　 女流画家協会第21回展（東京都美術館）に《夜明けをまつ人達》が入選、Ｈ夫人賞を受賞。 ＜1968年＞ 女流画家協会第22回展に入選、女流画家協会会員に推挙される。 独立美術協会第36回展に《大地の歌》《天上の歌》が入選、独立賞を受賞。 ＜1971年＞ 女流画家協会第25回展で女流画家協会賞・Ｈ夫人賞を受賞。 独立美術協会第回39展に《不死の夢》《不死の夢》が入選、再び独立賞を受賞。 ＜1972年＞ 独立美術協会第40回展に《太陽の歌》《真昼の歌》が入選、独立美術協会会員に推挙される ＜1973年＞ 文化庁芸術家在外研修制度による女性第1号第６回昭和47年派遣研修生として1年間、渡欧米。 ＜1980年＞ 第23回安井賞展（池袋・西武美術館）に《生命の歩み‐遙》を出品、佳作賞を受賞。 ＜1991年＞ 第34回安井賞展選考委員をつとめる。 最初の回顧展「馬越陽子の世界」が伊東・池田20世紀美術館で開催され初期の《自画像》から新作に至る代表作を中心に約60点を出品。 ＜1993年＞ 個展「人間の河」がパリ・ギャルリーロマネで開催され《降りそそぐ光り》《あたかも祭りの日のように》《出発》など41点を出品。（パリ・ジャパンフェスティバル‐文化間の対話‐協賛企画） ＜1994年＞ 第17回安田火災東郷青児美術館大賞を受賞。受賞作は《人間の河は解放を求めて流れる》。 個展「馬越陽子‐魂を揺さぶる人間の賛歌‐」（安田火災東郷青児美術館） ＜1995年＞ 両洋の眼・現代の絵画展（日本橋・三越本店）に出品。 IMA絵画の今日展（新宿・三越美術館）に《悲歌‐パラダイスロースト》300号を出品。 ＜1997年＞ 日本秀作美術展に《遥かな空》100号を出品。 IMA絵画の今日展（新宿・三越美術館）に《彗星が光りをふりそそいで去た》Ｐ300号を出品。 個展がニューヨーク、ヒューゴ・デ・パガーノギャラリーで開催される。 ＜1998年＞ 「天・人・地」馬越陽子洋画展（日本橋三越）。　 ＜1999年＞ 第21回日本秀作展《彼方にある夜明けを》150号を出品。 ＜2001年＞ 南青山・永井画廊で個展。 多摩美術大学大学院に博士課程が開設され、教授となる（2004年迄）。 ＜2004年＞ 馬越陽子洋画展‐人間の河‐（日本橋三越）。 ＜2006年＞ 10月23日〜11月18日迄パリにて個展開催予定。 現在、独立美術協会会員、女流画家協会委員、多摩美術大学大学院客員教授 【主要作品収蔵先】 文化庁 神奈川県立近代美術館 池田20世紀美術館 新潟市立美術館 広島現代美術館 佐久市立近代美術館 安田火災東郷青児美術館 他多数 Yoko Makoshi, one of the most important and sincere abstract artists in Japan,has been working on her metaphysical pictures on the basis of question “Where do we come from? What are we?Where are we going?” She has sought the sense of identity which is the most profound problem without being reduced to more sentimental state of mind. In this painting her forceful brushstrokes seems to be mysterious traces of the very struggle between her will to create images and her will to delete them at the same time with vivid colors. The mysterious traces allow us to sense recuperative light though they reflect the difficulty for any one of us to express within a world the other can be felt or sensed only in fragments.The sincere artist seems to be looking for an icon as a metaphor for the invisible religious light. Her images are not merely abstractions but also metaphors for her exploration of man’s isolated existence in a vast, empty world. Makoshi’s art reveals that light we need is here with us and in ue.
